My First Blog

Monday the 1st of February, 2021

One of may favourite authors, Laura Jane Williams, describes in 'Our Stop' Monday as a

"perpetual fresh start"

... right now, I am definitely manifesting this whilst feeling like I'm taking that first step on our BAPP ladder.

Feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Excited to be setting myself a new focus and goal yet apprehensive as to not yet fully understanding the course and as to what I would define  my 'practise' as.

The day before starting my first cruise contract I remember that feeling of stepping into the unknown. I was entering a whole new chapter of my life. New shows to learn, new professional creatives and directors to meet, a new cast to share this venture with and a new first impression to make. Yet what an incredible, life changing and rewarding experience that was. I'm going to channel this present (nervous) feeling into that relatable 'pre-contract' feeling as I enter another new Chapter.

I've just had my first one to one with Helen, who is my supervisor. It was great to be introduced to one another and I feel that my journey on BAPP has now begun as I start Module 1.

Establishing to Helen where my practise is at now and how it is has changed due to Covid- 19 and the current lockdown restrictions, reiterated the importance of keeping creative at home, taking advantage of all of the amazing classes on Web 2.0 and continuing to focus on my own self development.

*Helen suggested heading over to 'One Dance' and taking a look at the content they are producing and support they are offering.

Reading through other students blogs, both current and Alumini's, I truly feel that I understand the importance of blogging a lot more than I did. This definitely feels like an encouraging community and a safe place to blog any thoughts and findings along the way.

*Helen recommended as preparatory work to listen to some Ted Talks focusing on Reflective Practise. Also, to take a look at the Koretext on Uni Hub which we have access to.

I'd love to get to know and connect with others on BAPP, too.
