READING

Today I have spent my study reading exerts from different books and taking a closer look at the references included to try and expand my research.

I began reading the beginning of the KORTEXT for Module 2, 'Qualitative Research for Physical Culture'.

A particular quote made me question: What are my subjective influences, regarding marketing/ branding and self promotion online.

My thoughts:

  • Companies promote you to upload images, tagging and showcasing the company
  • My social circle have an online presence
  • Travel and expense to attend auditions
  • Accessibility to the Internet
  • Already having digital branding material such as portfolio images, digital CV, showreel, website
Reflecting on this, I'd like to question my subjective influences and appreciate;

  • Success at live auditions
  • Inability to access the Internet
  • Privacy online
  • Funding
This book has also given me an insight into 'Qualitative Researchers'. (Markula and Silk, 2011)

I've also began 'Ethnography: Principles in Practice', recognising what the features of ethnographic work are. This had led me to begin 'Virtual Ethnography' by Christine Hine.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has started any of these books and what your first thoughts are?
I'm noting down references and trying to make sense of it all right now.

  1. Ellie you always inspire me, you seem to understand the task at hand so quickly and are very thorough in your approach. From your last few blogs, it looks like you're on track to pin down your inquiry very effectively.
